Royal Caribbean Group, a giant in the cruise sector, has announced the opening of an office in Cyprus within the first half of 2023. The office will be based in Limassol and will support shipping operations as the company looks to grow its business in the Eastern Mediterranean. The group's announcement also said that the Spectrum of the Seas cruise ship has been registered in the Cyprus shipping registry.

"We have fostered an incredibly close relationship with the Cypriot authorities over the past few years and we are excited to continue our growth by opening an office in Limassol," said Ruth Marshall, Vice President, General Counsel & Managing Director, of the company, adding that "Cyprus continues to rank as one of the world's leading shipping registries and has a well-established shipping and ship management center. The Cyprus government has been extremely helpful, and we are excited to expand our Mediterranean operations from Cyprus."

The opening of a Cyprus office follows the company's first sailing from the port of Limassol in July 2021.

Vassilis Demetriades, Deputy Minister of Shipping, stated in a written statement that "the company's decision to establish a permanent headquarters in Cyprus, which will be the center of its shipping activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the trust the company has shown in Cyprus Flag, create conditions for further strengthening our cooperation, which will bring significant benefits both for Cyprus Shipping and more broadly in the consolidation of Cyprus as a center of quality cruising which further enhances the tourism industry.
