If you have a sweet tooth, Kakopetria has just the right thing for you this Sunday

Newsroom

Autumn is just around the corner and if you are looking for amazing sweet fruit preserves this weekend, look no further because you can taste traditional spoon sweets in Kakopetria this Sunday.

The Community Council of Kakopetria, Nicosia district, is organising the 2nd Spoon Sweet Festival this Sunday, September 30, from 10am until 10pm.

This is a great opportunity to sample up to 50 different spoon sweets made by locals

Whether you who have a craving for sweet foods or simply want to enjoy a nice trip out in the country, you can head out to the picturesque village of Kakopetria, about 55 kilometres southwest of Nicosia, where you can visit this Solea valley community set in the foothills of the Troodos Mountains. The place is known for the old quarter of the village, with its narrow, stone-paved alleys, and it is a protected heritage site.

Besides having an oportunity to take in fresh air and appreciate up close those two-storey houses with beautiful restored wooden balconies, this is also a chance to sample up to 50 different spoon sweets made by locals, who are known for their great passion and fruit preserve recipes. You can also buy as much as you want in one go if you want to manage your stock supplies for the winter early this year.

Entrance is free and the festival also includes music and traditional dances, suitable for the entire family to enjoy.
