The health ministry announced Monday that it received information late on Sunday from laboratories processing samples at Cyprus airports, which said that 30 new coronavirus cases emerged from a total of 346 lab tests conducted to check samples collected from arriving passengers.

According to the health ministry, 17 of the cases detected at Cyprus airports on Sunday involved arrivals from a flight from Mykonos that landed on Saturday.

An additional 10 were passengers on a flight that arrived from Amsterdam on Sunday.

The remaining three involved passengers who arrived from London on Sunday.

Health authorities said they were investigating all cases and are continuing contact tracing efforts.

The 30 new cases brought total coronavirus cases detected in the Republic of Cyprus so far to 1,451.

In its announcement, the health ministry also announced that it plans to downgrade the Netherlands from category B to category C of its travel list, with the move expected to be made official later in the day.
