The US Department of Defense has released a photo of a US Air Force pilot looking down from his plane at the Chinese balloon that was shot down on February 4.

The photograph was taken from the aircraft's cockpit on 3 February, one day before the downing, and shows the balloon with some panels visible underneath.

It should be noted that from February 4 to 12, the US armed forces shot down four flying objects, three of which were over the US and one over Canada.

The most publicized of the four was the downing of a Chinese balloon over the Atlantic off the coast of South Carolina on February 4th.

Beijing claims that the object was a weather balloon that had entered US airspace by mistake.

The US side, on the other hand, claims that the balloon was a spy balloon, posing a threat to US national security and thus was shot down.
