Cyprus-Israel flight surge in response to current events

Growing air travel amid shifting circumstances

Newsroom / CNA

In response to the evolving situation in Israel, over 15 flights are set to depart from Larnaca airport to Tel Aviv today, primarily operated by Israeli airlines. These additional flights aim to facilitate the return of Israelis currently in Cyprus or those arriving on the island from various countries, as reported by CBC.

Sources indicate that Israelis situated across different European nations are making their way back to Cyprus, specifically, Larnaca airport, where Israeli carriers will pick them up for repatriation to Israel.

TUS Airways also announced plans for extra flights connecting Tel Aviv with Larnaca and Athens in light of the ongoing circumstances in Israel. Passengers are advised to stay updated on potential flight time changes and other pertinent information.

It's important to note that several airlines have suspended their services to Tel Aviv airport amid the situation.

Meanwhile, the status of the five subsidized patients receiving treatment in Israel, as well as their accompanying families, remains stable, according to CBC.

Furthermore, one of the three groups of approximately 300 individuals in Israel for pilgrimage and tourism has returned to Cyprus, while the second group is scheduled to depart from Tel Aviv today.

Metropolitan Nektarios of Kition is also currently in Tel Aviv attending an ecclesiastical conference and is expected to remain in Israel until Wednesday.

In response to the situation, heightened security measures have been put in place by the police, including at the Jewish synagogue in Larnaca, areas of Israeli interest in the city, the Rabbi's residence, and hotels accommodating Israeli guests.
