Cyprus sees 2.91% surge in construction material prices

In 2023, the Construction Materials Price Index saw a 2.91% increase compared to 2022 in Cyprus.

This rise, reported by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, is mainly attributed to significant increases in prices of Portland cement (39.39%), concrete plates, mosaics, and bricks (14.61%), gravel and sand mix for road pavement (13.89%), crushed stone for concrete (12.63%), and ready-mix concrete (12.13%).

Conversely, certain materials experienced price decreases in 2023, such as construction iron (-18.66%), structural mesh (-12.44%), and construction steel (-12.27%) compared to 2022.

Additionally, the Index for December 2023 reached 134.23 units (based on 2015=100), marking a 0.14% increase from the previous month.

Compared to December of the previous year, the index recorded a 0.45% increase. Significant increases were observed in minerals (13.98%), mineral products (5.80%), and wood, insulation, chemicals, and plastics products (0.45%), while decreases were noted in metal products (-7.39%) and electromechanical items (-0.14%).
