An explosion occurred on Wednesday night in a residence in the Anavargos area, with the police investigating a case of attempted property destruction with explosives and injury to the homeowner.
According to the Assistant Police Operations Director of Paphos, Michalis Nikolaou, around 21:50 yesterday, an explosion occurred outside the kitchen door of the residence of a 58-year-old Public Prosecutor in Paphos. The 58-year-old woman works at the Provincial Court of Paphos.
As reported by CNA, at the time of the explosion, the 58-year-old woman was at home with her family. From the explosion, she was slightly injured and was transported by ambulance to the Accident and Emergency Department of Paphos General Hospital. After receiving first aid, she was discharged.
The scene remains cordoned off and under police guard. This morning, bomb disposal experts from Police Headquarters and members of the Criminal Investigation Department will visit the scene for a detailed examination, while extensive examinations will be carried out in the surrounding area both from closed surveillance circuits and for the collection of any other evidence to identify the perpetrator.
Investigations into the case continue by the Paphos Crime Detection Department.
