Financial assistance in the amount of €2,529,000 will be given to farmers who suffered losses due to damage caused to their crops from adverse weather conditions and other causes, according to an announcement from the government today.

During today's cabinet meeting chaired by President Nicos Anastasiades, the Ministers and President decided that farmers whose crops were damaged during the 2020-2021 growing season will be given financial assistance.

According to a written statement by the Deputy Government Spokeswoman, Niovis Parisinou, during this period, serious damage was caused to cereals, olives, vines and bananas, resulting in a number of farmers being affected.

In addition to this decision, the Council of Ministers also decided to grant financial aid to the Union of Cypriot Pensioners (EKY.SY.) P.E.O, to the Association of Welfare of Pensioners S.E.K. and to the Organization of Senior Citizens in the amount of €20,000 for each organization for the year 2022.  The move aims to support the ongoing work carried out by these Organizations.
