A 24-year-old male has been arrested in Larnaca following the discovery of over 26 kilos of dry cannabis in his residence.

According to police, officers from the special anti-drug unit raided the home of the suspect, following a traffic stop on the Larnaca-Limassol highway near the Alethriko exit where marijuana was found in his possession.

Cops went to the suspect’s residence where they found a stash of dry cannabis buds inside nylon bags with a total weight of 26.5 kilos.

In two other cases, a 30-year-old Greek national and two 20-year-old Britons were arrested on drug charges in Paphos.

The woman had arrived from Athens with over 24 kilos of cannabis and was planning to deliver the goods to another person who was waiting for her at a hotel in Nicosia, according to reports.

The two British men were also arrested when they went to unearth 18 hidden bags with a total of half a kilo of cannabis. Cops had the location in Peyia under surveillance when the two suspects arrived with their vehicle to collect the nylon bags.

The 24-year-old was scheduled to appear in Larnaca District Court on Friday morning where he is expected to be remanded in custody.

Anti-drug unit officers and a Larnaca special unit are investigating the case.
