Limassol marathon: 800 runners from 75 countries

Each year, the Limassol marathon showcases Cyprus on a global stage, highlighting its beauty and temperate climate

Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis hailed the recent OPAP Limassol Marathon as a significant boost for Cyprus, as over 800 runners participated in the event. The marathon, held on April 13 and 14, 2024, drew athletes from 75 countries, showcasing Cyprus on the global stage.

"Increasingly vital for our nation, events like the Limassol Marathon underscore Cyprus's prominence," Koumis declared, emphasizing the event's growth and international reach. "As the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, we pledge our support to further elevate the Limassol Marathon."

The marathon featured four races: the 42 km Marathon Road Race, the 21 km Muskita Half Marathon Road Race, the 10 km Petrolina Energy Race, and the 5 km RemAthlon Individual Road Race. With a total of over 17,000 participants, including 3,000 international runners from 75 countries, the event showcased Cyprus's appeal as a sporting destination.

Israeli Yossi Gross clinched the top spot in the OPAP Men's Marathon, while Sophie Rousseur from France secured victory in the OPAP Women's Marathon. Limassol Municipality, ETAL, and EBEL collaborated as co-organizers, dedicating this year's marathon to Stelios Kyriakides.
