A senior citizen in Limassol fell to his death on Thursday after he climbed an open staircase to pick fruit.
Police said an 85-year-old local man from Dora climbed the steps of the outdoor staircase at his residence in order to gather fruit from a tree just right after 6pm.
Local media said at one point the elderly man lost his balance and fell to the ground.
The man’s son reportedly found his father on the ground and called the police. The senior citizen was rushed to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
State pathologist Eleni Antoniou was scheduled to conduct the post mortem on Friday at 9am.
