The health minister has requested a full account of events in connection with an 8-year-old girl who died at Limassol General on Monday morning, after being released hours earlier.

The little girl, who was misidentified as a boy in previous reports, was taken to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital on Sunday evening with high fever.
Doctors on duty reportedly told the mother, described only as a foreign national, that her daughter should remain in hospital so that she could be examined by a pediatrician.

Sometime later, according to reports, the mother signed a release form and took her child back home for the night.
But around 2am Monday morning, the woman came back with her daughter who had a low pulse and high fever and was described as being in partial loss of consciousness.
Despite doctors’ efforts to save the girl’s life, she did not regain consciousness she passed away in the hospital.
CNA News Agency initially reported that the doctors followed procedure from the first time the girl arrived in the Emergency Room.
An autopsy on Tuesday, conducted by state forensic pathologist Eleni Antoniou, revealed the girl had gone into septic shock, while additional lab test results were still pending.
But Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou has asked for a full account of events concerning both hospital visits, Sunday evening and Monday early morning.
