A noise complaint in Paphos turned into an investigation into assault and destruction of property, after youths allegedly attacked a neighbour who called the cops on them.

Paphos police said they received a noise complaint Tuesday night when an adult male called to report very loud music 15 minutes after midnight.

Officers visited the residence where a party was in progress and spoke with the father of a young person, asking him to turn the music down.

After officers left and the music had been turned off, police were notified again.

According to an official complaint, father and son, along with about a dozen youths, went to the house of a male neighbour whom they suspected of having called the cops on them earlier

Reports said several in the group holding wooden sticks damaged the neighbour’s vehicle that was parked outside while some also broke the front gate in the house yard.

The assailants then proceeded to assault the resident, according to the complaint, inflicting physical harm on him by hitting him and causing bruises and cuts on his body.

Police told Knews the male resident was taken to the Emergency Room where he was treated for injuries and then he was released.

Officers secured the scene for further investigation to be conducted later in the day, while no arrests were made following the alleged assault.

Police said they were investigating possible offences including aggravated assault, destruction of property, use of threats, cursing in public, noise pollution, and conspiracy to commit a misdemeanour.
