Cold front affecting Cyprus this week but levels start rising just before holiday weekend

A cold front is affecting Cyprus until Christmas Eve, with mixed skies in the days ahead and temperatures expected to rise gradually over the holiday weekend.

Partly sunny skies are expected Thursday along with periods of cloud formations and chances of light rain, while there will be snowfall up in the Troodos Mountains.

Temperature highs will reach 14 degrees Celsius inland, around 16 in coastal regions, while it will be 4 high up in the mountains where frost is expected to form in the morning.

Evening skies will gradually become mostly clear with increasing clouds expected in parts along the coast and in the mountains.

Temperature lows will drop down to 3 degrees inland, around 8 in the east southeast, around 6 in all other coastal regions, while it will be four below zero (-4) higher up where frost is expected to form overnight.

Friday weather on Christmas Eve and Saturday on Christmas Day will be mostly clear with scattered clouds at times, while similar weather is expected on Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to gradually rise over the weekend, with Friday levels below normal averages climbing gradually to normal levels for this time of the year.

The last measurement of the Troodos Square snow gauge was 8.5 inches, as recorded at 5am on Thursday.
