President Anastasiades is reportedly is search of an experienced and trustworthy person to take over the reigns at the Central Bank of Cyprus.

The government will proceed to change of the governing structure of the Central Bank

Incumbent Chrystalla Yiorkatzi’s turbulent term comes at an end in May 2019 and according to Kathimerini the three leading candidates are executive member of the Central Bank board Kostantinos Erodotou, non-executive member of the board Andreas Persianis and TITAN group Financial Director Michalis Kolakides.

With the blessings of the European Central Bank, the government will proceed to change the governing structure of the Central Bank. According to the bill, the law concerning the centralization of competences in the person of the governor is to be abolished, providing for the establishment of an executive committee as the new decision-making body.

The composition of the board of directors remains unchanged and includes the governor, the deputy governor, two executive directors and five non-executive directors.
