Unveiling the past of Aglantzia in an enchanting theatrical tour

Embark on a journey through time with the Municipality of Aglantzia's Theatrical Walk, rediscovering the stories and memories of old Aglantzia

Newsroom

In an article written by Apostolos Kouroupakis, published in the print edition of Kathimerini's Oikonomiki, the Municipality of Aglantzia, in collaboration with "The Little Pomegranate" Café and Olivemangostudio Art Centre, invites enthusiasts of stories and genuine narratives to embark on a unique tour, breathing life into the Aglantzia of yesteryear. Twenty carefully selected points in old Aglantzia, each holding distinct narratives, have been chosen to guide participants through a journey of individual and collective memories. These points are not arbitrary; they signify locations that once served a different purpose, telling tales of old cinemas, cooperatives, grocery stores, post offices, schools, and more.

The organizers have strategically placed QR-coded signs at these locations, offering a theatrical and interactive walk, allowing attendees to indirectly and captivatingly explore the narratives. Participants will not only witness scenes, customs, and traditions from the past but also become active contributors to the unfolding plot, engaging with amateur actors along the way.

The tour aims to transport participants into the social reality of earlier times, focusing on memories shared by Aglantzonians from the 60s to the 80s. The narratives, accessible through QR codes, have been collected from the rich experiences and recollections of the community. This innovative approach to storytelling emerged from an interactive tour for children and a collaborative effort with the Municipality of Aglantzia, promoting historical and cultural awareness.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 3, starting at 3:30 pm, commencing at Kyriakos Karoli Square (Little Rodia Café) and concluding at Agios Georgios Church in Skali. Attendees will include residents, friends of Aglantzia, students from Aglantzia High School, actress Eleni Sidera, musicians, dancers, and the Municipal Choir of Aglantzia. This theatrical journey promises to be a nostalgic and immersive experience for all.
