Charles ‘Charlie’ Riddington, the UK murder suspect who was arrested in Cyprus in August, is awaiting extradition to the United Kingdom to face justice.
On Tuesday, a Nicosia judge ordered the 36-year-old man, who is the main suspect in the murder of 24-year-old George Barker, to be extradited to the UK.
Police told Knews in cases where consent is given, it is up to authorities in the country requesting the extradition to arrange for the suspect to fly back. But they clarified that all suspects have three full days to decide whether they wish to challenge the decision.
The suspect, who evaded capture for two years, and his attorney, Giorgos Giorgalis, are reportedly not contesting the extradition.
“We have no grounds to appeal. He will be extradited to Britain where the judicial system is known to be fair,” Giorgalis told The Guardian.
Riddington remains in custody of the Republic of Cyprus, where he is being held at a special location of the Central Prisons in Nicosia.
