Cypriot films 'Buffer Zone' and 'Taxi' win big internationally

Cypriot short films ''Buffer Zone'' and ''Taxi'' have achieved international success and received awards.

In particular, the award-winning short film by Savvas Stavrou "Buffer Zone" won the Best Short Film Award at the Greek Film Festival in Berlin. The award is accompanied by a cash prize of 500 euro, a press release by the Deputy Ministry of Culture said on Wednesday.

The short film "Taxi" directed and produced by Constantinos Nikiforou secured a place in the European Comic Film section of the European Independent Film Festival, the press release added.

At the same time, "Taxi" was one of the films that closed the San Francisco Greek Film Festival with great success and very good reviews, it said.

The two productions were co-financed by the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture, through its cinema grant schemes.
