A Limassol post office worker has been arrested and another is wanted by police in connection with an unclaimed package from Canada containing half a kilo of cannabis.
According to police, the package had been mailed from Canada to Cyprus and remained unclaimed at the post office, until it was opened by postal worker on Thursday. It was not immediately clear whether police had been present or if the worker contacted authorities after opening the package.
Following the discovery of cannabis and during an investigation, cops began to focus on a 36-year-old post office worker who was arrested.
The suspect was questioned by investigators on the police drug squad, and authorities obtained an arrest warrant for a second suspect, aged 35.
The first suspect in custody was expected to appear before a Limassol district judge on Friday for his remand hearing.
