On July 26th, Baker Tilly Global Solutions organized an exciting seminar addressed to the Heads and teams of Internal Audit, IT Leaders and Data Protection Officers of Romanian Banks. The event which was a joint effort of Baker Tilly Romania and the Association of Romanian Banks, took place at Caro Hotel in Bucharest, Romania and drew an enviable audience of executives from numerous local and international Banks.

The seminar was presented by the Managing Consultant of Baker Tilly’s Specialist Consulting Solutions service line, Georgios A. Korellis, a specialist in technology transformation and digitalisation strategies and a true GDPR expert, skills which complement his leadership credentials in Information Security, Privacy Consulting, Procurement & Sourcing and large-scale Project Management.

The seminar focused on key topics of ongoing and emerging criticality for Banks, as those are driven by digitalization and technology initiatives. Georgios shared his expertise on the following core areas, based on heavily practical examples and thought-provoking approaches addressing:

- The intersection of Internal Audit, GDPR and Cyber Security
- Integrating Privacy & Security within the Internal Audit Plan
- Managing Outsourcing Risks in the Digital Era and
- Implementing a Proactive Approach during Technology Project Implementations

Georgios stressed the importance of innovation in internal auditing and the need for a sharp focus in managing Cyber Security and Privacy in the age of digitalization and technology advances. At the conclusion of the event, he also reaffirmed Baker Tilly’s commitment to the Romanian market in general and the Banking community in particular, in continuing to promote highly practical methodologies to technology innovation and even more effective approaches towards Privacy and Cyber Security.
