Leonardo Hotels & Resorts Mediterranean has proceeded with a new strategic investment in the Greek hospitality market, further strengthening its presence in Athens and reaffirming its dynamic growth trajectory across the Eastern Mediterranean region.
With the acquisition of the Great Athens Hotel and the creation of the Leonardo Hotel Athens City Center, the group expands its portfolio to two hotels in the Greek capital and six hotels in total across Greece, while the number of hotel properties it manages in Greece and Cyprus now reaches 16.
The new hotel, operating under the name “Leonardo Hotel Athens City Center,” enjoys a prime location in the heart of Athens at 12 Veranzerou Street, within proximity to Omonoia Square, next to the renovated MINION building and the flagship ZARA store.
The property is a 4-star hotel developed across nine above-ground floors, three basement levels, and a mezzanine floor. It features a total of 117 rooms across four different room categories (Standard Room, Standard Atrium Room, Superior Balcony Room, and Junior Suite), while its facilities include a Lobby Lounge, Coffee Bar, restaurant, and modern meeting and conference spaces.
A distinctive highlight of the hotel is its rooftop garden featuring a swimming pool and pool bar, offering panoramic views over the center of Athens.

This new investment forms part of the broader strategic development plan of Leonardo Hotels & Resorts Mediterranean for further expansion across Greece and Cyprus, with the aim of creating modern, high-quality hospitality experiences in key urban and leisure destinations throughout the region.
