Tourism in Cyprus continues to shine in 2024, with arrivals nearing 3.73 million between January and October, marking a 4.6% annual increase. This figure also slightly surpasses the same period in 2019, a record-breaking year for Cypriot tourism, showing a 0.81% rise.
October 2024 was a standout month, setting a new all-time high for the month with 459,106 tourist arrivals. This marks a 7.7% increase from October 2023 and a 5.2% rise compared to October 2019. It was the second month this year to break records, following a strong August performance.
The United Kingdom remained Cyprus’s largest source of tourists, contributing 36.3% of total October arrivals (166,588 visitors). Other significant markets included Poland (8.1%), Germany (7.6%), Israel (5.2%), and Sweden (4.1%).
Cypriots traveling abroad on the rise
While welcoming record numbers of tourists, Cypriots also embraced travel abroad. In October 2024, 137,095 residents returned from trips abroad, reflecting a 4.4% increase from October 2023. Greece was the most popular destination, accounting for 35% of returnees (47,990 travelers), followed by the United Kingdom (8.3%) and Italy (7.3%).
With tourism thriving and outbound travel on the rise, Cyprus solidifies its position as a dynamic hub for global travel while retaining its appeal to locals seeking international experiences.
