Attention may currently be focused on developments surrounding the Cyprus issue, prompted by President Nikos Christodoulides’ visit to New York, but important moves are already underway concerning investment and the presence of American companies in Cyprus.
Kathimerini understands that the Presidential Palace is preparing for another investment-focused visit to the United States, expected to take place toward the end of November. The agenda includes a campaign to attract Cypriot talent back to the island, meetings with major American technology companies, and a Financial Times conference on Cyprus in New York.
More specifically, Christodoulides is expected to visit Ohio, Boston and Florida for talks with companies interested in investing in Cyprus. The focus will be on attracting investment in technology, as well as other areas of economic activity.
At the same time, particular interest is being placed on the campaign to attract talented Cypriots living in the United States back to the island, the so-called “brain gain” initiative. According to information, the government expects the campaign to produce significant results.
It is recalled that in May 2025, the government embarked on an investment drive in the United States, visiting New York, San Francisco, and Houston. The aim was to attract investment in key sectors, including shipping, technology, and energy, while promoting Cyprus as an investment destination.
Meetings were held with major companies, including Amazon, Google, Nvidia, OpenAI, Tenstorrent, and Plug and Play.
Among the results of that visit, Nvidia moved ahead with an upgrade to Cyprus’ national infrastructure through a supercomputer that provides national computing capacity and can support the country during environmental disasters and other crises.
Plug and Play has also established a presence in Cyprus through an innovation accelerator for startups, intended to serve as a bridge between emerging companies and potential investors.
