Hotels in Limassol are recording strong demand in August, with occupancy at around 90% and bookings now broadly matching the levels seen during the same month last year.
Christos Tsanos, president of the Limassol branch of the Cyprus Hotel Association (PASYXE), told the Cyprus News Agency that last-minute reservations have been a defining feature of this year’s summer season.
Tsanos said the latest figures are consistent with expectations expressed in June, when he predicted that bookings could recover after travel advisories linked to the war in neighbouring Iran were revised.
He said August has reached the same booking levels as August 2025, while demand has received an additional boost from the domestic market. Bookings by residents of Cyprus were particularly evident for the August 10-17 period.
The recovery comes after a more uncertain start to the year, with hoteliers having expected the summer months to perform better than initially forecast. Tsanos had previously cautioned, however, that strong performance during June, July and August would not be enough to compensate for weaker periods during the rest of the year.
Hotel prices have also been kept relatively close to last year’s levels. According to Tsanos, most increases have been limited to no more than 5%, a policy intended to keep Limassol accessible to both Cypriot holidaymakers and international visitors returning to the city.
Limassol’s hotel sector mainly targets higher-income travellers, who tend to have greater expectations regarding accommodation and services. Tsanos said maintaining high service standards remains essential for the city’s hotels as they compete for this market.
