A 33-year-old man has been arrested in the Larnaca district as police investigate the possession of child sexual abuse material.
The case came to the attention of Cypriot authorities following information received from Europol concerning a Google platform user believed to be in possession of such material.
Police carried out a series of checks after receiving the information, with evidence subsequently linking the case to the 33-year-old suspect.
He was arrested on Tuesday under a court warrant in the Larnaca district.
The suspect is expected to appear before a court on Wednesday, where police will seek an order for his remand as investigations continue.
The Electronic Crime Unit is handling the case and is carrying out further examinations.
