Police have arrested a 61-year-old man in connection with a dog abuse case in Peyia.

According to the Dog Unit at Police Headquarters, after persistent efforts, thorough investigations, and the gathering of evidence, the Animal Police Unit of the Paphos district solved the dog abuse case on Tuesday, which occurred on January 16, 2025.

The investigation revealed evidence against the 61-year-old from Peyia, who reportedly confessed to the offense during questioning.

The accused has been formally notified and is expected to appear before the court for the case's resolution. It is noted that the dog, named Eddie, was found in a trash bin in Peyia by a Canadian permanent resident of Cyprus, placed inside a bag and in poor condition.

Police Headquarters expresses gratitude to the members of the Animal Unit in the Paphos district, particularly Constable Nikola Kazantzidis, for their tireless efforts and outstanding work in solving the case.

Today, Eddie has been adopted and is enjoying the warmth of his new home.
