A mild and mostly cloudy day ahead

Partly cloudy skies and slightly warmer temperatures expected as a weak high pressure system affects the region

Newsroom

A weak area of high pressure is settling over the region, which will bring partly cloudy skies today with the chance of some light rain or an isolated thunderstorm. Initially, the rain will be more likely in the eastern parts, but it could shift to the mountains as the day goes on. Winds will generally be light to moderate, coming from the northeast to southeast, with gusts reaching up to 5 Beaufort in some areas, especially in windward locations. The sea will be a little choppy, but nothing too dramatic.

Temperatures today will be relatively mild—around 19°C inland, 21°C along the coast, and a cooler 11°C in the higher mountains.

As for tonight, expect partly cloudy skies to continue. Winds will stay light to moderate, but there could be brief spells of stronger gusts in some areas. The sea will remain slightly rough, and temperatures will drop to about 10°C inland, 12°C on the coasts, and 6°C in the mountains.

Looking ahead to Friday and Saturday, expect some high clouds at times, but it should remain mostly dry. Sunday, however, will bring more cloud cover, and there’s a chance of local showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the west at first, spreading across the island later in the day. By Sunday evening, conditions will improve significantly.

Temperatures will gradually climb a little over the next few days, and by the weekend, we’ll be seeing slightly warmer-than-usual temperatures for this time of year.
