Adobe, the U.S.-based software giant behind Photoshop and Premiere Pro, is set to acquire Semrush, the digital marketing and SEO platform with a major office in Limassol, for $1.9 billion. The deal, which gives Semrush shareholders $12 per share, a roughly 77.5% premium over its last closing price, is expected to close in the first half of 2026.

The move is part of Adobe’s push to strengthen its marketing offerings with artificial intelligence tools, giving brands better insights into how consumers see them online. Semrush, founded in Boston in 2008, develops AI software that helps companies manage search engine optimization, social media, and digital advertising. Its Limassol office, opened in 2015, employs over 100 staff across Cyprus, including Nicosia, Larnaca, and Paphos.

“Semrush is a standout in Cyprus’ tech scene,” said Invest Cyprus, noting the company’s contributions to the local economy through employment, taxes, and community initiatives. Its flexible work policies, international diversity, and active participation in the IT ecosystem make it a model for Cyprus’ growing tech sector.

Adobe’s acquisition will allow it to combine Semrush’s AI data with its existing tools, including InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, and the Adobe Experience Cloud, giving marketers a clearer picture of online consumer behavior. The company has been experimenting with AI-driven features, including controlling video and image editing via chatbots and integrating apps with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Semrush shares surged 75% in premarket trading following the announcement, reflecting investor enthusiasm for Adobe’s AI-driven expansion. For Cyprus, the deal highlights the island’s role as a hub for global tech companies and its ability to attract and retain international talent.
