A wildfire that broke out in the Limassol village of Arsos on Sunday afternoon has been brought under control after burning approximately 3.5 hectares of land.
Firefighting crews were working to fully secure the perimeter of the blaze, with earth-moving machinery being used as part of the operation, Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis said.
A winery and a holiday home in the area were protected during the firefighting effort, with no damage to either property reported.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established and is being investigated.
Twenty-one firefighters from Greece also took part in the operation. They are currently stationed in Cyprus through the European Union programme for the pre-positioning of firefighting forces.
The Greek personnel worked alongside the Department of Forests, using six fire engines and a water tanker to help contain the blaze.
