Boat carrying over 50 migrants spotted off Cape Greco

Marine police rushed to the vessel which will be escorted to a fishing shelter in Protaras


A boat carrying more than 50 migrants was spotted off the coast of Cape Greco, police announced on Tuesday.

A 15-metre-long boat was spotted around noon sailing five nautical miles east of Cape Greco in the Famagusta District.

Marine police rushed to the vessel, as national plans covering the arrival of irregular migrants were activated and all relevant services informed.

The ship is expected to be escorted to the Golden Coast fishing shelter in Protaras where the migrants’ identification details will be recorded.
