Body of baby found at Pentakomo waste sorting plant

Preliminary information suggests the baby was spotted in a plastic bag as rubbish was being sorted on a conveyor belt

Newsroom

Limassol police were placed on high alert on Friday after the body of a baby was spotted among the rubbish being sorted at the Pentakomo waste sorting plant.

Police and state pathologists rushed to the scene to look into the shocking incident.

Preliminary information suggests the newborn baby boy was spotted in a plastic bag as rubbish was being sorted on a conveyor belt.

Reports noted that the newborn wasn’t spotted among medical waste, as that ends up in another waste plant.

A post-mortem is expected to be carried out on Monday.
