Six new coronavirus cases were detected on Tuesday, when 3,157 tests were carried out, raising total cases recorded in the Republic of Cyprus to 1,540.
Three of Tuesday’s new cases were friend and family contacts of a case announced on Monday, and are part of a cluster that now consists of 12 people.
Another new case involved a family contact of a case announced on Sunday, involving a person who flew in to Cyprus from Russia on September 11.
Another case was detected among samples collected at public health clinics, involving a person who developed symptoms on Sunday and was referred to a public health clinic by their GP.
The final new case on Tuesday involved a person who developed symptoms on September 12 and took the initiative to get tested.
Currently, the Famagusta general hospital is treating five coronavirus patients, one of which is in the ICU, which the hospital discharged one person. Another coronavirus patient is receiving treatment at the Nicosia general hospital ICU.
