The Council of Ministers on Wednesday approved the call for tenders for the first phase of the Polis Chrysochous–Paphos highway, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeadis said after the meeting.
“We are moving forward with the tender process immediately,” Vafeadis said. “I expect the documents will be posted by Monday, as there is a large volume of paperwork. We are proceeding with the implementation and the start of construction works as soon as possible. This confirms our determination to advance this project, as previously announced.”
Vafeadis said the highway is expected to improve road safety and boost connectivity. “It will also create opportunities for residents in the wider Polis Chrysochous region and Paphos District to further develop their activities and improve their quality of life,” he said.
Asked about the project timeline, the minister said the schedules follow deadlines set by public procurement law. Further details will be announced on the government’s e-procurement platform as they are finalized, he added.
