Cyprus sends humanitarian aid to Ukraine

First batch to be sent on March 8th, donation centers continue to be open nationwide

Source: Announcements

The first batch of humanitarian aid from Cyprus for the people of Ukraine will be sent next Tuesday, March 8th, following arrangements made and in consultation with the European Union Civil Protection Agency.

The first humanitarian aid package includes:

1. Medical products worth €700,000.
2. Food collected from over 40 donation centers nationwide.
3. Equipment related to civilian protection (tents, sleeping bags, first aid kits, etc.).

The Cyprus Government has already contributed, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the amount of €100,000 to the UN's Humanitarian Fund for Ukraine (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs).

The Government wishes to thank the citizens, the organizations, the private companies and entities, the Municipalities, the Communities, the Cyprus Ports Authority, but also those others who contributed to the effort to gather humanitarian aid, something that clearly proves once again the empathy of our people who stand by the citizens of Ukraine.

The assessment for what is needed on the ground continues in cooperation with the Union Civil Protection Agency.  Donation centers will continue to be open throughout Cyprus for the collections of goods to be donated to the people of Ukraine.
