Tourist arrivals in Cyprus reached a record high in August 2025, according to available data from the Statistical Service dating back to 1976, totaling 602,026 arrivals. For the first eight months of 2025, tourist arrivals increased 10%, or by 275,528 arrivals, compared to the same period last year.
The previous record had also been set earlier this year, in July 2025, with 589,116 arrivals.
Compared to August 2024, when there were 554,923 arrivals, tourist arrivals in August 2025 rose 8.5%.
From January to August 2025, total tourist arrivals reached 3,034,155, up from 2,758,627 during the same period in 2024, reflecting a 10% increase.
According to the Statistical Service, the United Kingdom was the top source of tourists in August 2025, accounting for 32.1% (193,091) of total arrivals. Other main sources included Israel 17.5% (105,597), Poland 7.0% (41,844), Germany 4.6% (27,665), Sweden 3.1% (18,636), and Romania 3.0% (18,300).
In August 2025, 86.5% of tourists visited Cyprus for holidays, 11.4% to visit friends or relatives, and 2.1% for business purposes. For comparison, in August 2024, 87.3% came for holidays, 10.2% to visit friends or relatives, and 2.5% for business.
Cypriot residents traveling abroad
Cypriot residents traveling abroad in August 2025 totaled 238,740, compared with 192,756 in August 2024, marking a 23.9% increase.
The main countries visited by Cypriot residents in August 2025 were Greece 33.1% (78,915), the United Kingdom 6.8% (16,197), Russia 5.1% (12,084), and Italy 5.0% (11,824).
Most trips abroad were for holidays (91.6%), followed by business (6.7%), studies (1.3%), and other purposes (0.4%).
