Cyprus added another chapter to its strong tradition in shooting sport after a series of medal-winning performances at the World Junior Shooting Championship in Germany.
The country's junior skeet team secured the world title, finishing first with a score of 351 out of 375. The gold-medal-winning trio of Stylianos Perikleous, Andreas Pontikis and Markos Kontopoulos edged Italy by a single target, while host nation Germany finished third.

Cypriot athletes also enjoyed success in the individual events. Cleanthis Cleanthous earned the silver medal after reaching the final and recording 33 hits from 36 targets. Andreas Pontikis followed with a bronze medal, producing 29 successful shots in the medal round after posting one of the strongest qualifying scores of the competition.
The results continue a long record of international success for Cypriot shooting, a sport that has regularly delivered medals and top-level performances for the island over several decades.
The Cyprus Olympic Committee congratulated the Cyprus Shooting Sport Federation and the athletes involved, praising their achievements and their contribution to Cyprus' presence on the international sporting stage.
