A driver was rescued by passersby early Sunday morning after crashing into a tree and becoming trapped inside a burning vehicle in the Nicosia district.
The crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. near the Kykkos Monastery’s Metochi, according to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis. The vehicle burst into flames shortly after impact, under circumstances that remain under investigation.
Bystanders managed to pull the driver from the wreckage before firefighters arrived. The driver was treated at the scene by emergency responders and then transported by ambulance to a hospital emergency department for further care.
