Dust, heat, and strong winds expected

Clear skies and variable winds as low pressure hits Cyprus

Newsroom

The region is currently under the influence of seasonal low pressure, resulting in a mix of weather conditions.

Today, the weather will be predominantly clear with occasional intervals of diluted dust in the atmosphere. Winds will predominantly blow from the southwest to northwest, ranging from weak to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and locally in the afternoon, becoming strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly turbulent in some areas. Temperatures are expected to reach 39 degrees Celsius  in the interior, around 35°C on the south and east coasts, 33°C on the north coast, and around 29°C on the west coast and in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, though increased low clouds may appear intermittently. Sparse fog or mist may form locally during the early morning hours. Winds will continue to blow from the southwest to northwest, staying weak to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly turbulent. Temperatures will drop to around 23°C in the interior and on the south and east coasts, around 21°C on the west and north coasts, and 19°C in the higher highlands.

The outlook for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is for mostly clear weather, though locally increased clouds may develop in the afternoon and early evening. Dust may reappear in the atmosphere on Thursday. Temperatures will decrease by Friday to align with average climatic values, with no significant changes expected on Saturday.
