Emergency meeting to address progress on LNG and GSI projects

Parliament to discuss geopolitical risks and funding for Great Sea Interconnector

Newsroom

The Cyprus Parliamentary Energy Committee will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday morning to review updates on two key projects: the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Vasilikos and the Cyprus-Greece-Israel electrical interconnection via the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) submarine cable.

The session, starting at 9:30 a.m., will first cover recent developments concerning travel arrangements to and from the occupied territories. At 10:05 a.m., the focus will shift to the progress of the LNG terminal and the GSI project.

Discussions on the Cyprus-Greece-Israel interconnection will address the project's geopolitical risk assurances from the GSI implementing body, as well as the reduction in grant funding and Cyprus’s share in the project's equity. Additional topics will include revenue recovery from the electrical interconnection during construction and responsibilities related to project completion uncertainties.
