Recep Tayyip Erdogan embarked on his first visit outside of Turkey since his re-election arriving in the occupied territories. He landed at approximately 13:10 and will depart in the afternoon, proceeding to Azerbaijan thereafter. At 14:30, Erdogan and Tatar will hold a joint press conference.
According to Turkish media, the discussions between them will encompass the Cyprus problem and the latest developments in the eastern Mediterranean. Analysts anticipate that Erdogan will reiterate his stance on a two-state solution for Cyprus.
Constantia Sotiriou, a Turkologist and press officer at the Press and Information Office, shared during an interview with SPOR FM and the DIAPORA NEWS program that this visit by the Turkish President is merely a formality, as evidenced by the limited coverage it received in the Turkish press today.
Ms. Sotiriou emphasized that the upcoming visit of the Turkish Cypriot leader to the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Friday holds greater significance.
