''Today the Eurogroup will have the opportunity to be informed about the course of the Cypriot economy, almost two years after leaving the economic adjustment programme," Finance Minister Harris Georgiades said before the Eurogroup meeting in Brussels.

Georgiades said that he would communicate to his counterparts the Cypriot government's commitment to a prudent fiscal policy.

"For my part, I will be able to reiterate the government's commitment to maintaining policies of stability, trust, policies that are credible, not so much as to satisfy our partners, or conform to common rules, but mainly because these are the policies which slowly create a positive outlook for our fellow citizens, correcting issues for our fellow citizens, " said the Minister.

Slogans and populisms do not create jobs they are created by a positive outlook as the political consequences of credibility and common effort that we must maintain

"Slogans and populisms do not create jobs, they are created by a positive outlook as the political consequences of credibility and common effort that we must maintain," said Georgiades.

Last week the Cyprus Statistical Service released budgetary data that show that in the first ten months of 2018 the general government surplus rose to 852.8 million euros which corresponds to 4.1% of the GDP.
