Friday forecast: Dusty skies, climbing temps, and a weekend mood swing

Your slightly dramatic, somewhat sarcastic, and fully committed weather update.

Newsroom

Settle in, sky-watchers and weather weirdos. We’ve got a moody atmosphere and a temperature rollercoaster heading into the weekend. A shy little high-pressure system is quietly influencing the region, while our old frenemy, dust, will be hanging around until Sunday. Yes, again.

Today’s vibe? Filtered sunshine through high-altitude clouds, like nature’s attempt at an Instagram soft-focus filter. Winds will flirt from the northeast to southeast at a gentle-to-flirty 3 to 4 Beaufort, occasionally putting on a show with gusts up to 5. The sea will be just restless enough to feel poetic; “slightly rough,” if you must label it. Temperatures will climb to a warm 29°C inland, hover around a breezy 26°C along the coast, and cool off at about 22°C up in the mountains.

Tonight, expect a few extra high clouds drifting through like they’ve got nowhere else to be. Winds keep the same relaxed northeast-to-southeast rhythm at 3 to 4 Beaufort, while the sea stays a little agitated but nothing dramatic. Overnight lows will drop to around 17°C inland and at the coasts, and a crisp 14°C in the higher elevations, ideal for anyone who thinks sleeping with the window open is a lifestyle.

The weekend continues the high cloud aesthetic, with mid-level clouds making a cameo late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. They may even bring a few light, isolated showers, though nothing worth rescheduling brunch over. Meanwhile, dust may take its time and settle into the lower atmosphere too, for those who enjoy a little texture in their air.

As for temperatures: Saturday sees a noticeable rise, just in time to trick you into breaking out the sandals. Sunday hits back with a noticeable drop, reminding us that nothing good lasts forever. By Monday, things even out with no significant changes, settling back into the average,  emotionally and meteorologically.

That’s your Friday fix. Go forth, wear sunscreen, hydrate (because: dust), and embrace the glorious inconsistency of spring.
