Good morning and happy Tuesday, April 22! Easter may be behind us, but the festive buzz is still in the air, and with the way the weather’s shaping up, we’re already starting to flirt with summer.
A weak high-pressure system is currently hovering over Cyprus, keeping things mostly calm but bringing along a bit of an uninvited guest: dust. Expect a hazy tint to the sky until Thursday, with dust levels possibly climbing at times, so maybe hold off on washing the car just yet.
Today, it’s clear skies all around. Winds will blow from the northeast to southeast, light to moderate, nothing too dramatic, with a bit more of a breeze in some coastal spots. The sea will be slightly choppy, but nothing that should spoil your morning swim. Temperatures are creeping up: about 31°C inland, 26°C along the coast, and a cooler 24°C up in the mountains. Not bad at all!
Tonight, we’ll see some mid-to-high cloud cover moving in, making for a partly cloudy evening. Winds will shift slightly northward but stay light, and the sea will remain on the slightly rough side. Temperatures will dip to around 16°C inland, 17°C by the coast, and 14°C in the mountains, cool enough to crack a window open, but probably not sweater weather.
Looking ahead to Wednesday through Friday, expect more of those mid- and high clouds, especially in the afternoons. Friday might even surprise us with a few scattered showers, so keep an umbrella in the car, just in case.
Temperatures will inch higher on Wednesday, reaching well above what's normal for this time of year. But don’t get too comfy; a drop is coming on Thursday and Friday. Still, it’ll be warmer than average, so we’re not diving back into spring anytime soon.
Dust, sunshine, and a slow-motion slide into summer—it’s Cyprus in late April.
