A powerful hailstorm struck the Cypriot community of Ormideia around midday today, covering parts of the area in a layer of white ice. Meteorologists reported that the event was accompanied by a strong thunderstorm and gusty winds.
Heavy rainfall was also recorded in nearby communities, including Xylofagou, with experts noting that the storm is moving eastward. Residents shared videos and photos on social media, expressing both surprise and excitement at the sudden change. Some even remarked that hail, while unexpected, was a welcome sight.
