Health Ministry announces 385 new cases

The Health Ministry announced 385 coronavirus cases on Thursday, raising total cases detected so far to 41,111.

A total of 45,598 tests were conducted, marking a positivity rate of 0.84%.

No fatalities were reported on Thursday, leaving the death toll steady at 241.

134 of the new cases were primary contacts, three were airport arrivals, 61 were people who took the initiative to get tested, eight were tested at a general hospital, while 13 were tested via rapid test at private labs.

Among new cases, 166 involved people who tested positive to a rapid test. A majority of 83 were detected in Limassol after 8,838 tests were conducted (positivity rate of 0.94%), followed by Nicosia where 44 people tested positive after 11,890 tests (0.37%), while 12 tested positive in Larnaca (0.27%), 10 in Paphos (0.35%), and five in Famagusta (0.32%). Another person was detected at the Ayios Athanasiou industrial area, two more were among the National Guard, while nine involved school staff or students.

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 212 coronavirus patients, of which 43 are in critical condition.

70 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, eight of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 59 patients, 23 of which are in the ICU. 64 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital where eight are in the ICU, while four are at the Makarios hospital in Nicosia.
