Holy Week weather: Calm skies, gentle breezes and a hint of dust on Good Friday

Mild temperatures and mostly clear skies promise a peaceful lead-up to Easter, with just a touch of dust expected to grace the air by week's end.

Newsroom

As Holy Week carries us gently toward Easter, the weather seems to be following suit with a quiet and peaceful mood.

Today, expect mostly clear skies across the island, the kind that invite a relaxing walk or some quiet time outdoors. Winds will be coming in from the southwest to northwest, blowing at a light to moderate pace, around 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, with the occasional stronger gust reaching 5. The sea may feel a little choppy at times, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Temperatures will climb to a pleasant 24 degrees Celsius in inland areas and along the southern and eastern coasts, around 22 degrees on the western and northern coasts, and a cooler 14 degrees up in the higher mountains, which might be just right for those planning a quiet retreat.

By evening, the clear skies will continue. Winds will shift and soften, gradually becoming northwesterly to northeasterly and southeasterly along the north coast, remaining light at around 3 Beaufort. The sea will settle down to calm or slightly rough conditions. Temperatures will dip to 10 degrees inland, around 13 on the coast, and 6 degrees in the mountains, perfect for cozying up indoors.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the calm and clear weather continues. Temperatures will gradually rise and hover above the average for this time of year. On Good Friday, a light veil of dust may linger in the air, adding a touch of haziness to an otherwise clear day.

Overall, it is a calm and reflective forecast for a week that encourages just that.
