Temperatures continue to soar inland, coast cooler, mountain rain likely

A low pressure system is affecting areas over Cyprus, with Sunday temperatures reaching upper 30’s inland and chances of rain in the afternoon.

Sunday weather will be mostly clear with winds becoming very strong later in the day along the southern coast. Increasing afternoon clouds are also expected mainly over the mountains and parts inland, with local showers likely in some of the affected areas.

A yellow warning for Saturday afternoon was not renewed for Sunday as of 8am, but officials warned that temperatures are expected to gradually trend upwards and remain slightly above normal averages for this time of the year. Skies on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be mostly clear.

Sunday highs are expected to reach 39° Celsius inland, around 34 in the south and eastern shores, around 31 in the north and out west, while it will be 29 in the mountains.

Evening weather is expected to remain mostly clear, with thin fog and low clouds possibly forming over local areas in the early morning hours. Minimum lows will drop to 24 degrees inland, in the south and along the eastern coast, around 22 in the north and out west, while it will be around 18 in the mountains.
