President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris concluded on Tuesday his official visit to Georgia.
According to a press release by the House of Representatives, Syllouris attended a working lunch with President Goga Gulordava and members of the Georgia – Cyprus Friendship Group at the Parliament of Georgia, with whom he discussed ways to further promote bilateral relations.
In the afternoon, Syllouris held a meeting with members of the Cyprus Police Force who take part in the EU mission in Georgia.
He was also received by Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II who referred to the historic and religious ties of both countries and thanked the government of Cyprus for allocating land to build a Georgian Monastery in the Pafos district. Syllouris referred to the great number of Georgians living in Cyprus saying that this further enhances the cultural ties between the two peoples.
He also visited the Institute for Classical Philology, Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Tbilisi and the citizens’ services of the Georgian government.
