A Larnaca man was sentenced behind closed doors to twelve years for sodomising his step daughter when she was just twelve years old.
The Larnaca Criminal Court handed down the sentence on Friday, sending the 47-year-old step dad behind bars for committing sexual “crimes against nature” against his wife’s daughter between January and July of 2000.
The girl used to live in an apartment building with her mother and two siblings, a brother and a sister, in a village in Larnaca district.
'The girl was in a lot of pain, she had fear, it was unbearable, she felt disgusted with herself to the point where she couldn’t sleep and she would cry uncontrollably'
The step dad used to take the twelve-year-old girl up to the roof of their building to have anal intercourse with her, according to the court document, as well as other locations such as a motor home and another area where the man kept his dogs.
“The girl was in a lot of pain, she had fear, it was unbearable, she felt disgusted with herself to the point where she couldn’t sleep and she would cry uncontrollably,” the statement also said.
The man would also take photographs of the sexual act and he also would manage to convince her mother to let the girl go to differnet places with him.
The victim had told her sister about her ordeal and then the two girls together tried to tell their mother what was going on.
But their mother dismissed the allegations, prompting the victim to leave home on that day and move in with her grandmother. Her sister later joined her and they two lived with their grandmother and their aunt until they became adults and moved to a different city.
The court said the step father committed “hideous and horrific crimes” against the young girl, who is now facing psychological trauma for the rest of her life.
The statement also said that the man’s clean criminal record was taken into consideration before handing down 12 years behind bars.
