Limassol doctors extract piece of meat from man’s throat after fatal incident in local restaurant

A man in Limassol died on Sunday night after he choked on meat during a late night dinner at a local restaurant.

According to local media, a 43-year-old man described as a Cypriot national was having a meal at a restaurant in Limassol on Sunday night when he choked and later died.

The man who was visibly choking asked a fellow diner to pat him on the back before walking outside and losing consciousness

The incident took place in the evening at a restaurant in Yermasogia, where a Greek Cypriot man who was visibly choking at a group table asked a fellow diner to pat him on the back.

Media reports said the man then walked outside where he lost consciousness.

An ambulance rushed the man to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital, where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.

Reports said doctors had extracted a piece of meat from the man’s throat. A scheduled post mortem exam is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
